Strengthening Construction Pathways: CITB Research Welcomed by Kent & Medway LSIP

The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has launched a vital new research initiative in partnership with IFF Research, aimed at understanding the experiences and outcomes of learners who have undertaken Construction and Built Environment Further Education (FE) courses and apprenticeships. This study will provide essential insights into how well current training prepares learners for careers in construction and how it can evolve to meet the sector’s changing demands.

At Kent & Medway LSIP, we wholeheartedly welcome this initiative. Construction is a designated priority sector in our region, underpinning infrastructure, housing, and regeneration. Ensuring that learners are equipped with the right skills, confidence, and career pathways is not just beneficial, it’s essential.

The findings from this research will:

  • Inform strategies to support smoother transitions into employment
  • Help address persistent skills shortages
  • Ensure training provision is aligned with employer needs and future growth

We encourage local training providers to participate and contribute to this important evidence base. Together, we can build a stronger, more resilient construction workforce for Kent & Medway.
