Policy Connect: New Health Education And Training Inquiry

Strengthening NHS Workforce Through Education: A New National Inquiry

Policy Connect and the Higher Education Commission, in collaboration with the All-Party Parliamentary Health Group, have launched a new inquiry focused on improving post-16 education pathways to support NHS recruitment, retention, and development.

This initiative responds to critical workforce shortages and builds on commitments in the Government’s Spending Review and 10-Year Health Plan. The inquiry will generate evidence-based policy recommendations to better coordinate action across education, health, and regulatory sectors.

Chaired by Kevin McKenna MP, Lord Philip Norton of Louth, and Professor Kathryn Mitchell (University of Derby), the inquiry is supported by a steering group of sector experts and sponsored by the University of Derby, ACCA, and iheed.
