New Initiative To Boost Hospitality Recruitment In Kent

The hospitality sector in Kent is set to benefit from a new initiative aimed at supporting recruitment and offering opportunities to the local community. The Hospitality Sector-Based Work Academy Programme (SWAP), developed in partnership with UK Hospitality, the Department for Work & Pensions, and Jobcentre Plus, is launching in 26 regions across the UK, including Kent.

The programme, which is locally delivered by the East Kent College Group, runs for 15 days and includes:

  • 10 days of classroom-based or on-site training led by an industry tutor.
  • 5 days of work experience with an employer who has entry-level or apprenticeship vacancies.

The aim of the SWAP is to help jobseekers gain the skills and experience they need to start a career in hospitality while connecting employers with potential new recruits who are job-ready and motivated.

Information Day Invitation

You are also invited to an Information Day on Thursday, 22nd May, from 10am–2pm at Mill House, Mill Lane Jobcentre in Margate. This event is a great opportunity to meet the training providers, learn about the programme content, and find out how your business can get involved. To attend, you’ll need to have a current or anticipated vacancy by mid-June.
