The LSIP Team joined representatives from Kent Further Education and other local Stakeholders for the Digital Skills and Innovation in Care Conference at the Ashford International Hotel on 22nd February.

EKC Group are leading on this project in collaboration with MidKent College and North Kent College; funded by the Local Skills Improvement Fund (LSIF) and complementing the priorities of the Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP), specifically around digitising care.  We heard from a number of key figures in the social care sector, curriculum leads, regional experts and project leads about their plans for the funding, how it is being invested and how implementing digital skills can drive innovation and change in the care sector with information on what training can be accessed and the plans for future investment.  The plans include the introduction of 6 Assistive Technology Centres across the 3 college groups in Kent & Medway equipped with state of the art technology and a curriculum redesign.

The event was well attended by representatives from local authorities, social care providers, support services and the wider social care community.  The project is now moving forwards and further updates on progress will be shared in due course.
