The Kent & Medway Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) team was pleased to attend the launch of the Kent and Medway ATech Skills for Social Care Commission, a vital initiative aimed at shaping policy and strengthening digital capabilities across the health and social care sector.

Representing the LSIP, Lucy Druesne, Deputy CEO of the Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce and Skills Lead for the LSIP, joined stakeholders and policymakers at the event launched by Policy Connect. The Commission will deliver an inquiry to inform both local and national policy on assistive technology (ATech) delivery, with a particular focus on workforce development and innovation in care settings.

The LSIP team welcomes the Commission’s alignment with the broader goals of the Digital Skills and Innovation in Health and Care (DSIHC) project and the establishment of six ATech learning hubs across Kent and Medway. These hubs will play a key role in equipping care professionals with the skills needed to harness technology for improved outcomes and greater independence for those receiving care.

Lucy Druesne commented:
“It’s encouraging to see such a strong commitment to digital innovation in social care. The LSIP is proud to support initiatives that empower the workforce and enhance the quality of care through technology.”

We look forward to contributing insights from our employer engagement and skills mapping work to support the Commission’s inquiry and ensure that Kent and Medway continue to lead the way in integrating ATech into care delivery.
