Local Skills Improvement Plan
by Sarah Parrish

An important milestone was marked in May with the launch of the South East Institute of Technology (IoT) at MidKent College in Maidstone.

The programmes have been developed in collaboration with employers, colleges, and universities, placing employers at the heart of decision-making and ensuring the curriculum meets industry needs.

The focus is on developing talent and skills to be utilised in the industry and supporting the technology-driven economy in the South East.

IoT’s also have the potential to fill skills gaps and build a pipeline of talent for the future, helping businesses and the local community thrive. Through live projects, access to state-of-the-art equipment and research facilities, and networking opportunities with other like-minded employers, the IoT can help organisations innovate and gain fresh insights into immediate business challenges.
