Employers, training providers and sector partners from across Kent & Medway came together on 5th May at the Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce for the latest meeting of the Kent & Medway Electrotechnical Training & Careers Alliance (ETCA).
The meeting focused on shared workforce challenges facing the electrotechnical sector, including learner readiness, access to work experience, apprenticeship routes and the need for closer alignment between education and employer expectations.
Attendees received updates on national policy, funding and workforce trends from the Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA), alongside a regional update on the development of the Kent & Medway Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP).
A facilitated workshop enabled employers to directly shape discussions on curriculum co‑design, with strong agreement on practical next steps such as improving work placement coordination, exploring an employer‑endorsed learner passport, and better positioning of foundation‑level electrical training.
The ETCA continues to play a key role in ensuring employer voice shapes the future electrotechnical workforce in Kent & Medway.
