Yesterday, the Kent & Medway Manufacturing Focus Group (KMFG) brought together local employers for a site visit to MidKent College’s Institute of Technology (IoT) in Maidstone.

The visit offered businesses a valuable opportunity to explore the IoT’s impressive facilities, specialist learning environments and industry-standard equipment, designed to support the development of higher-level technical skills aligned to employer needs.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Bradley Austin, Becky Farley, Charlotte Brown and the wider MidKent College team for their warm welcome and for hosting such an insightful and engaging session. Thank you also to the businesses who joined us and contributed to positive discussions around skills, workforce development and collaboration.

The Institute of Technology plays a key role in strengthening links between education and industry. Through close employer engagement, the IoT is helping to ensure that training provision reflects real-world requirements and supports the development of a skilled pipeline for the future.

For employers, there are a wide range of opportunities to engage with education providers like MidKent College. From contributing to curriculum design and offering work placements, to supporting careers insight and collaborating on skills initiatives, businesses can play an active role in shaping the future workforce.
